Brilliant! I echo these sentiments entirely.

To do this properly costs money as you so rightly say; the knock on effect for clients is that, when it’s done right, the art reflects that. It’s such an effort telling people how it all pieces together.

Oh yes! Tell it like it is! I love your detailed explanation, thank you for taking the time to spell it out! I’m a metal artist myself and if I didn’t have a boyfriend (husband really) that pays most of the bills, I would NEVER get to do what I love. I sold 122 pieces in 2012 – small pieces – and made maybe $6000 after expenses, probably less. I’m glad I found your blog. -Lisa

What are artists saying with their work? How are we to enter the conversation? Are we peers of the artist? Is there something that we can contribute, or do each of us have only ourselves as an audience? I like to observe the money flow. Dead artists command much more then when they were alive. I’ve been told that I should “do art”. Unfortunately, I haven’t found what I should “do”. Somehow, I find artists to be more interesting than their art. I searched for “best steel sculptures” to land here.

I want to read more!!! Very engaging and vivid imagery of emotions, as well as mental processing. I loved the language and flow, easy to read but not simple but any means. Heartfelt voice and words emerging. Keep going all the way….:)

I really appreciate you explaining the costs as well. I didn’t think it was easy at all to make a metal sculpture. I tried to make a sculpture for my parents and ended up stopping just because of the cost. Again I really appreciate it.
